The field sports competitions and trophy and certificate award ceremony related to the Welimada Divisional Secretariat Inter-Sports Club Tournament were held at the Wangiyakumbura National School Grounds on 28-03-2026.





The main event for the Welimada Divisional Secretariat Division under the "Aththama" national program—a citizen-led initiative for a clean country—was held today (August 8) at the Welimada Base Hospital premises.
Government officials representing the Welimada Divisional Secretariat, the Welimada Pradeshiya Sabha, and the Welimada Base Hospital—including the Welimada Divisional Secretary, the Chairman of the Welimada Pradeshiya Sabha and other political representatives, the Assistant Divisional Secretary, the Assistant Director of Planning, and the Administrative Officer—were present on this occasion.








In conjunction with the "National Integrity Week"—scheduled from July 27 to July 31 as part of the "Culture of Integrity – Clean Sri Lanka" national initiative—public officials across all state institutions took the integrity oath/pledge; the program for the Welimada Divisional Secretariat was held at the Secretariat premises on the 27th, presided over by Divisional Secretary Mr. V.P. Suneth Jinendrasena.





Coinciding with the program to grant 10,000 land permits to the people of the Uva Province, a ceremony to issue land permits to residents of the Welimada, Uvaparanagama, and Hali-Ela Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Badulla District was held on June 2, 2026, at the Welimada fairgrounds. The event was presided over by the Governor of the Uva Province, Attorney-at-Law Mr. J.M. Kapila Jayasekara, and the Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, Mr. K.V. Samantha Vidyarathna.
Accordingly, under this program, land permits were granted to 671 individuals in the Welimada division, 218 individuals in the Uvaparanagama division, and 134 individuals in the Hali-ela division.
The event was attended by the Venerable Maha Sangha and clergy of other religions; Hon. Aravinda Senarath, Deputy Minister of Lands and Irrigation; Hon. Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Deputy Minister of Tourism; Mr. Jinadasa Rathnayake, Chairman of the Uva-Paranagama Pradeshiya Sabha; Mr. Sunil Galagama, District Secretary of Badulla; Ms. Anusha Gokula, Chief Secretary of Uva Province; Mr. Suneth Jinendrasena, Divisional Secretary of Welimada; the Uva Provincial Land Commissioner; and a number of officials from state institutions.
