A program to identify the current status of Samurdhi recipients will be implemented to transform them into low income earners island wide in line with the vision of building prosperity in the country.

The Department of Samurdhi Development has launched a program to identify the current status of Samurdhi recipients in order to transform the low income community island wide into self-reliant high income earners in line with the vision of building the country.

Under the first phase, arrangements have been made to select one Grama Niladhari Division from each Divisional Secretariat Division in the country and make it a pilot project. The families currently receiving Samurdhi assistance will be identified separately as empowered families and non-empowered families and then the empowered families will be empowered based on their economic, social, environmental and legal factors.

This program is conducted in the Badulla District by the Badulla District Samurdhi Director W.M. Under the guidance and guidance of Mr. C. Wijaya Bandara, a pilot program has been launched in 15 selected Grama Niladhari Divisions in 15 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Badulla District.

Accordingly, on the instructions of Welimada Pradeshiya Sabha Secretary Chaminda Weerasinghe, the survey work of the Boralanda Grama Niladhari Division in the Welimada Pradeshiya Divisional Secretariat was carried out yesterday. They visited the homes of all Samurdhi beneficiaries in the Boralanda Division and surveyed their current information. Officers of the Badulla District Samurdhi Office, a group of Samurdhi Managers and Samurdhi Development Officers of the Welimada Divisional Secretariat and several community organization officials were present at the occasion.
